Lonely Journey

Our mission: To support church planters in growing the Church through personalize coaching

Our vision: To come alongside church planters, offering encouragement, prayer, and mentoring to help them fulfill the vision God has given for His kingdom—all at no cost to the church planter

Our process: Relationships are everything. We begin by meeting with church planters to understand their needs and develop a tailor-made relationship of support.

We offer one-on-one monthly meetings online/in-person and provide individualize prayer support, personal words of encouragement and availability via phone/text on demand

First Meeting:

  • Build the relationship

  • Understand the vision

  • Identify the needs of the planter

Second Meeting:

  • Define the planters goals and objectives

  • Outline the framework for providing support and accountability for the planter

  • Establish an optimal meeting schedule

  • Define coaching strategies for ongoing support

Ongoing Support:

Church planter sets the agenda based on individual needs and expectations, including:

  • Deliverables

  • Lifestyle adjustments

  • Family

  • Time management strategies

  • Any other emerging needs

Who We Are

Doug has served in ministry for 40+ years in just about every role imaginable. He started 2 church plants, launched a campus from an existing church and oversaw the launching of 4 campuses as executive pastor of a large multisite church. He has a heart to serve the next generation of church planters and leaders through coaching.

Coaching, at its essence, is about serving. The church planter sets the agenda. God is actively at work in their life, in their specific location, among a unique group of people. There's no ‘cookie cutter’ approach to coaching; each planter faces distinct circumstances and challenges. They require encouragement, a compassionate ear, prayerful support, and more.

Through listening, guidance, and prayer, we aim to offer help and encouragement. We believe in empowering each planter to discern the next steps in the journey.

Church plants have limited income. Our desire is to provide free coaching and ministry support to the Church Planter. Your gift is an investment into the next generation of church leaders, seeking to establish churches that reach and disciple the next generation of believers.

You can play a part by donating to enable planters to receive free coaching. Once the planter has established the church, the hopeful outcome will be that they will lead the church to budget missional dollars to ‘pay it’ forward for the next planter.

Pastor Doug is literally a walking wisdom encyclopedia urban style. The mixture of his experiences, vulnerability and authenticity has been a blessing to me. He’s used by God in a powerful way through conversation not in telling you what to do but rather challenging you to rethink. I have met very few that can do that.

What clients are saying…

“Doug has been such a great blessing to me… He has helped me to grow in self-leadership, empowering others and growing in effectivity. Our times together have been both challenging and encouraging. I’m thankful for his generosity and investment in my life!”

What clients are saying…

“Working with Doug and Doug Irvin Coaching has been an absolute game-changer for me, both personally and professionally. The overflow of love and encouragement I've received has been a lifeline in some of the hardest times I've faced. When I've hit a wall in my leadership, Doug's persistent and probing questions have pushed me to think critically and strategically, allowing me to find solutions that I wouldn't have reached on my own.

One of the most surprising and appreciated aspects of Doug's coaching has been the work he does behind the scenes. His efforts brought about an unexpected opportunity for my family to get some much-needed rest and refreshment in the Lord—something we desperately needed but didn't even realize.

What stands out the most is the genuine care and prayer that Doug offers. I know that my family and I are consistently covered in prayer, and I have the peace of mind that comes from knowing I have a friend I can call on, no matter how crazy the situation might be.

Doug's coaching style is both challenging and deeply revealing. He has helped me uncover areas of immaturity in my faith and personhood that I might have overlooked, and this has allowed me to grow in ways that have made me a better follower of Christ, a more loving husband and father, and a more effective pastor.

I am beyond thankful for Doug's hard work, dedication, and the personal investment he has made in my life. His coaching has not just improved my ministry; it has transformed it. If you're looking for coaching that goes beyond the surface and truly impacts your heart and leadership, I can't recommend Doug and his agency highly enough.”
